Every year workers are severely injured or die in unsupported excavation collapses that could have easily been prevented with the use of a shoring system. OSHA outlines specific requirements for trench safety and excavation support, and many times that requires the knowledge and involvement of a professional engineer. DHC specializes in the design and certification of temporary earth retention systems. While the majority of our work focuses on “site specific” engineered plans for particular locations on projects, we are also involved in the design of the trench safety equipment with the manufacturers of trench shields, hydraulic trench jacks, and slide rail system. We are a proud member of the North American Excavation Shoring Association (NAXSA), with DHC president Jasper Calcara acting as the chairperson for the engineering committee.
